City Auditor Edmundo Calderon has filed a lawsuit against the City of El Paso and named six individuals as defendants: Former City Manager Tommy Gonzalez, City Attorney Karla Nieman, Assistant City Attorney Juan Gonzalez, City. Rep. Cassandra Hernandez, her husband Jeremy Jordan, and her former campaign employee Deborah Paz.

Mega-kudos to Lesley Engle of KVIA, one of the only remaining investigative journalists in local television news, for breaking the story.

Calderon alleges that after conducting an audit of City gas cards, he was relentlessly intimidated and harassed, suffered retaliation for performing his duties, and incurred damage to his reputation.

The audit led to the reprimands of City Rep. Cassandra Hernandez and former City Rep. Claudia Lizette Rodriguez, who together accounted for 62% of all gas purchases by the Mayor and City Council in 2022, purchasing a combined 3,403 gallons and robbing the taxpayers of $11,984.

Calderon is requesting a jury trial and seeking up to $1 million in damages.

We strongly recommend that you read the lawsuit in its entirety as well as every word of Engle’s sledgehammer of a report!

We have only two words for the incredible allegations we just read in Calderon’s pleadings:

MASSIVE CORRUPTION!
