Toñita Morales, who is 93 years old, is the last remaining resident of her Duranguito tenement.
She has been fighting for five years against the City of El Paso to prevent the demolition of her historic neighborhood for a multipurpose G-League basketball arena that we did not vote for and cannot afford.
Telemundo channel 48 aired a special report on Ms. Morales that is well worth watching.
Lester Holt of NBC Nightly News will be airing his own report next week.
This coming October 13 will mark five years since the City announced its plan to destroy Duranguito and displace its residents, using eminent domain if necessary.
The City is no closer to breaking ground than they were in 2016, and opposition to the “Arena” continues to grow.
