George Zavala’s May 26 complaint against Rep. Cassandra Hernandez will be heard by the Ethics Review Commission today in the second-floor conference room of City Hall at 5:30pm.

Zavala claims Hernandez violated multiple statutes when she purchased $6,691 of gas in 2022 (35% of all gas purchased by the City Council and Mayor); she purchased gas on consecutive days 23 times (including one instance of 3 consecutive days); she permitted another person (e.g. her husband Jeremy Jordan) to purchase gas with her City gas card (including in Carlsbad, NM); and she permitted another person to use her gas card while she was seated in City Council and while away on business in Vancouver.

Zavala claims Hernandez violated the City Fuel Card Policy as well as Article II (2.92.020), Sect. A(1) and Sect. A(7) of the El Paso Municipal Code.

You can view the entire complaint, its 12 exhibits, and related legal correspondence on the City Ethics Review Commission agenda under item 4.
