Dear Friends and Media,

As you know, the Texas Historical Commission (THC) wrote to the City on November 10 asking for opinions from the Historic Landmark Commission (HLC) and the Mayor with regard to the nomination of Downtown El Paso to the National Register of Historic Places.

On Monday, the HLC voted 6-0 to support the nomination, and the City Historic Preservation Officer sent a letter on their behalf to the THC, as requested. I have attached the letter to this email, which I acquired from a contact in Austin.

Meanwhile, Mayor Leeser has so far not shown any inclination to replace the letter that Dee Margo sent to the THC on December 23 with a letter of his own. With hundreds of millions of dollars of federal and state tax credits at stake, one wonders why he has not acted or replied to media inquiries.

Enjoy your day,

Max
