Today the Los Angeles Times featured 92-year-old Duranguito resident Antonio Morales.
Staff Writer Gustavo Arrellano did a wonderful job of covering her story.
Six members of City Council voted yesterday to support an entertainment project that will uproot Ms. Morales from her home by force and demolish her barrio. Eminent domain will be used to deprive her friend and neighbor, Romelia Mendoza, of her private property. 14 National Register eligible buildings will be lost.
Three of the politicians–Reps. Hernandez, Morgan and Rivera–will pay for their vote at the ballot box in November.
