Ross Moore, President of the El Paso Federation of Teachers, has strong words for Trustee Leah Hanany, who is spearheading an effort to fire EPISD Superintendent Diana Sayavedra on Tuesday.

Moore represents 2,390 teachers and staff in EPISD and yesterday wrote to them about the agenda item threatening to terminate Sayavedra:

“I have read the Board Packet, and it is a shell document with NO information, no allegations, no policy and legal basis, no cost estimates and no impact assessments. The three one-page items are essentially blank, empty skeletons. It all boils down to ‘Board President Hanany requested this item be placed on the agenda.’ In other words, ‘Because I said so, and facts and due process be Damned.'”

Moore wrote to us this morning that Hanany’s action “significantly increases probability of TEA take over of EPISD. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a mass exodus of senior and mid-level administrators.”

The special Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 5:30pm.
