City District 5 has one of the lowest voting rates in the entire state of Texas.

In the runoff election of December 14, 2024, voter turnout in District 5 was well under 4%, so Ivan Niño was elected to City Council with only 1,212 votes.

This is a guy who is not even qualified to be dogcatcher, much less manage a $1.4 billion budget.

In the current race, Niño’s only competitor is Richard Genera, a Democratic Party hack with the financial acumen of a ceramic jar.

This is the same district that reelected Isabel Salcido, even after she voted to issue hundreds of millions in non-voter-approved debt. We’re talking about a person who received 99.79% of her campaign contributions from outside her district!

Honestly, we think District 5 voters would elect a golden retriever to City Council if it were a Democrat and had a decent haircut.

We have nothing else to say about this race.
