Yesterday at 5:30pm the El Paso County Democratic Party hosted the Chair of the Texas Democratic Party, Gilberto Hinojosa. There were about 50 guests at the event, including County Judge Samaniego, former State Sen. Jose Rodriguez, and about two dozen local Democratic leaders. (see attached press release)
Each of the speakers criticized Rep. Claudia Rodriguez for her appearances on Fox News and Newsmax, where she has been attacking our Mayor and promoting her campaign for re-election.
County Judge Samaniego described Rodriguez as “very dangerous.”
State Democratic Chair Hinojosa cited her “crazy agenda.”
Her opponent Art Fierro claimed “The incumbent has turned this into a partisan race” and that “her platform lacks substance.”
This is the first time a local candidate for City office, which is supposed to be non-partisan, has sparked a major backlash from a political party.
