City Manager Gonzalez will soon earn a salary of $398,401, which is slightly less than President Biden’s salary of $400,000. Gonzalez probably enjoys similar perks, less the Boeing 747 and the Secret Service detail.

ABC-7 reports that Gonzalez will earn more than his counterparts in Phoenix and Dallas, which both have well over double our population.

ABC-7 asked Mayor Leeser what he feels are the City Manager’s strengths and weaknesses, but he refused to provide specifics. He responded: “We just need to continue to grow as a community…” So painful to watch.

As for City Attorney Nieman, let us not forget that on November 13, 2018 under Agenda item 18.1, Rep. Cassandra Hernandez asked her point blank whether the 2,313-acre land swap with Paul Foster would proceed if Great Wolf Lodge pulled out of the deal to build a resort in northwest El Paso. She responded that the land swap could not proceed and that the contract with the City would prevent it from proceeding.

Not only did the land swap proceed after the deal collapsed, but the City went on to gift Foster and his business partner the largest property tax abatement in El Paso history, in the form of TIRZ 13.

The media let Nieman get away with it completely.

She is the second highest paid employee of the City of El Paso.

Have a great day.
