Veronica Carbajal is one of four candidates running in the current Special Election for District 2. We examined her 8-day campaign finance report, which was filed on December 1, and found something interesting on page 13.
On November 29, Carbajal paid herself $280 for canvassing, for her own election.
This is apparently an easy way for a political candidate to earn some extra income.
We wonder of it’s taxable…

Carbajal wrote to us to explain that the $280 was incorrectly reported on her campaign financial disclosure and that it was payed to a canvasser who was not herself.
