The Great Wolf Lodge land swap (which Karla Nieman told City Council was impossible but happened anyway) has cost the taxpayers of El Paso $24 million so far, according to Dr. Rick Bonart.

We trust Rick’s math because he knows more about Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones (TIRZs) than anybody in our City government.

When will our City Council start repealing TIRZs and reversing the economic damaged caused by the City representatives who voted for them?

Yes, we are talking about Reps. Cassandra Hernandez, Isabel Salcido, and Henry Rivera, the remaining members of the Oligarchy Caucus.

These three voted for one tax hike after another, failed 380 agreements, hundreds of millions in non-voter-authorized debt issuances, and yes, TIRZ 13, the largest and most corrupt corporate handout in the history of West Texas.

We’re with Rick. It’s time for action on TIRZs.
