Tonight on ABC-7 XTRA at 10:30pm, Jacob Cintron, who is the CEO of University Medical Center, will defend the vote of his Board of Managers to recommend issuance of a certificate of obligation in the amount of $346,000,000 without voter approval, raising the property tax of the average El Paso home by $80 per year.
Cintron earns a total compensation of $659,434, making him the highest paid public official in the history of El Paso County. He placed an item on the agenda of the El Paso Commissioners Court this past week putting the proposal up for discussion and action, but there was no documentation attached to the item indicating the cost until less than 24 hours before the Thursday meeting. The Court opted to delay discussion until June 27.
Nicholas Tejeda, CEO of The Hospitals of Providence, and Richard Lange, President of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, will also appear on the show to discuss the state of our local healthcare in general.
Happy Father’s Day.
