Rep. Chris Canales, J. P. Bryan and I went on ABC-7 XTRA this past Sunday with Dylan McKim and discussed the first step for restoring Duranguito. You can watch the video here.
In my and Mr. Bryan’s view, the City needs to support the County’s nomination of downtown El Paso to the National Register of Historic Places so that federal and state tax credits can be made available to restore the 12 buildings in the former “Arena Footprint” that are eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
Former mayor Dee Margo had sent a letter to the Texas Historical Commission opposing the County’s plan.
Mayor Leeser needs to send a new letter to the Texas Historical Commission supporting the plan.
J. P. BRYAN HAS PURCHASED A DOWNTOWN BUILDING
Mr. Bryan announced on ABC-7 XTRA that he has purchased a historic downtown building, on Oregon Street. He has a co-investor. No one can say that Mr. Bryan does not have a stake in the fate of downtown El Paso.
VIRTUAL RESTORATION OF DURANGUITO
KVIA showed a virtual restoration of Duranguito that was presented to the public some years ago. I want to clarify that Paso del Sur created the virtual restoration and J. P. Bryan funded it.
