Trustees Leah Hanany and Jack Loveridge are convening another Special Meeting of the EPISD Board of Trustees, for June 3 at 4:00pm, to try again to fire and replace Superintendent Diana Sayavedra.

Unlike the May 27 meeting, which was scheduled for 5:30pm, this meeting will be held while most people are still at work, preventing many of the 20 citizens who had spoken against firing Sayavedra from attending this Tuesday.

What is worse, the rules for public comment require EPISD to place a sign-up link on their webpage starting 48 hours before the scheduled meeting, but as of June 1 at 5:34pm, no link has appeared!

EPISD is in violation of their own rules and should cancel the meeting and reschedule!

As for the meeting agenda, it is painfully obvious that Hanany and Loveridge have already lined up their five votes to fire the Superintendent and may have engaged in an illegal walking quorum.

Item 3 calls for “Discussion and Action to Approve Voluntary Separation Agreement with Superintendent of Schools,” as if her termination would be voluntary!

Item 4 calls for “Discussion and Action on Superintendent of Schools Duties and Responsibilities and Employment Status,” which is the trigger for termination.

Item 5, which comes last, calls for “Discussion and Action to Appoint Interim Superintendent.”

Hanany, Loveridge and their allies in the Politburo want to fire the Superintendent only 28 days before the start of FY 2026, with a budget deficit of $33.8 million, and just as budget discussions are about to begin.

That is total insanity and will lead to financial chaos and TEA intervention.

If the Politburo will permit us to speak publicly against this, the sign-up sheet is supposed to appear here.
