We are proud to endorse Amanda Cunningham for City District 5.
Amanda is a fierce fiscal conservative who opposes deficit-spending and the issuance of certificates of obligation for non-emergencies. She believes in restraining taxation so that El Pasoans can keep as much of their hard-earned money as possible.
We had previously endorsed Felix Muñoz, who was an excellent candidate, but he did not make it to the runoff.
Muñoz won 20.03% of the vote and Sean “Kowalski” Orr won 6.76%. Both men have endorsed Cunningham, who won 25.32% of the vote.
Cunningham will face Ivan Niño in the runoff election on December 14.
Ivan Niño is the Administrative Support Associate of City Rep. Isabel Salcido of District 5 and is paid $71,040 to manage her office and take phone calls. Salcido is responsible for increasing our property tax three times and issuing $389,000,000 in non-voter-approved debt. She was badly defeated in her recent bid for Mayor, earning only 7.41% of the vote.
Niño is exactly the same kind of tax-and-spend politician as Salcido but has the added distinction of having been criminally investigated for “Deceptive Business Practice” while working for El Paso County in 2013-2019.
Niño is supported by the Oligarchs and recently accepted $2,500 in contributions from Woody Hunt and many thousands more from his moneyed friends, none of whom live in District 5.
By contrast, Cunningham is running to represent the taxpayers of District 5 rather than the members of the Westside country clubs.
Please consider contributing to her campaign and volunteering to blockwalk!
