Harrison Parker of KFOX14 aired an outstanding report revealing that the County budget deficit for FY 2025 (ending September 30) has increased from $18-25M to $55-62M.

The new figure is catastrophic and will force the County to take extraordinary measures to close the gap.

Of course, the County Commissioners Court has authorized massive deficit spending starting in FY2026.

We see a major County tax increase on the horizon, to be added to the City’s 6.5% tax increase.

County Judge Ricardo Samaniego responded to Parker by channeling JFK: “Ask not what your County can do for you, ask what you can do for your County.”

We are not 100% certain but we think he means that we, the taxpayers, are royally screwed.
