At the Westside Democrats Candidates Forum on September 10, Matthew Guzman, candidate for City District 8, declared he will be the “voice” for the Debt Plaza.
This comes as no surprise, since he served as Secretary to the Downtown Debt Plaza Foundation, the nonprofit promoting this half-billion-dollar boondoggle.
Guzman was also a supporter of the failed downtown Arena project and believes El Paso needs more large capital improvement projects to stimulate the city’s economy.
