Today City Council voted 6-2 to adopt a budget for FY 2027 with a tax rate of $0.79800 per $100 of valuation, slightly below the voter-approval rate.
This means the owner of an average-valued single-family residence will pay about $105 more in property tax than the current year.
The budget vote came in the wake of public outrage against the proposed tax increase and only one day after the County voted to adopt a no-new-revenue tax rate for FY 2027.
KVIA and KTSM initially misreported the results of the budget vote but the El Paso Herald-Post got it right.
