There is nothing more important than the education of our children and that is why it is necessary to elect qualified citizens to our local school boards. The EPISD election for Board of Trustees is scheduled for May 3, with a window to file for a place on the ballot between January 15 and February 14.
The Board of Trustees is comprised of seven members, each representing a geographical district. (see map)
Four of the Trustees are fiscally conservative and not afraid to make difficult decisions to safeguard the future of EPISD: Isabel Hernandez (District 4), Israel Irrobali (District 5), Valerie Beals (District 6), and Daniel Call (District 7). Hernandez and Irrobali are up for reelection and should be supported at all costs!
Three of the Trustees are progressives who are more interested in social justice than balancing the budget and streamlining the administration: Leah Hanany (District 1), Alex Cuellar (District 2), and Dr. Jack Loveridge (District 3). Hanany and Loveridge are up for reelection.
REPLACE HANANY AND LOVERIDGE!
Leah Hanany’s district includes Downtown, Sunset Heights, Kern Place, the Segundo Barrio, and West Central. Her votes have been consistently wrong and agenda-driven and she must be defeated. We are hopeful that a qualified candidate will challenge her in the upcoming election.
Dr. Jack Loveridge, though more moderate than Hanany, is just as ill-equipped to face the current financial crisis. The word on the street is he will be challenged by a far-left ideologue who would be even worse. His district includes North Central and Far East. We hope someone with financial acumen will jump in the race.
Please consider running for the EPISD Board of Trustees!
