The unemployment rate in El Paso County two months ago was approximately 4%.
The El Paso Times is reporting that in March and April, unemployment insurance claims spiked to 50,885, and that is up from 2,537 jobless claims in January and February.
The total unemployment rate must be at least 15% in our community.
The City has furloughed 400 employees and cut the pay of more than 3,000 others.
Yet, six members of City Council voted to proceed with the construction of a $500+ million multipurpose basketball arena.
