Mayor,
I want to express my sincere disappointment with the direction of your administration and the lack of follow‑through on commitments made during your campaign.
Many of us remember the meeting at Stafford Thurmond’s home, where roughly 35 residents gathered to support you. My questions then were direct and focused on road quality and paving — issues you acknowledged repeatedly with a smile and a clear ‘yes.’
Since that time, none of those commitments have materialized.
More concerning, my emails regarding core issues — functional governance, audit findings, and budget deficits — have gone unanswered. This lack of engagement is not what you promised the voters who supported you early and strongly.
I advocated for you in good faith, including in my own home, because I believed you would bring a higher standard of leadership. It is disappointing to see that confidence was misplaced.
The community has a long memory, and accountability always arrives, whether sooner or later. I hope you will take these concerns seriously and begin addressing the commitments you made to the residents who helped put you in office.
Respectfully,
William Stafford Thurmond
El Paso, Texas
