KVIA is reporting that the COVID-19 death toll in El Paso stands at 57. There are 883 active cases and more than 1,100 El Pasoans have recovered.
The El Paso Times reports that 60,072 individuals have filed unemployment insurance claims in El Paso County and five adjacent rural West Texas counties from March 1 through May 14.
By contrast, from January 1 through February 28, a total of only 2,537 claims had been filed.
