Instead, the City should use the $150M or so remaining from the QOL bond to renovate the Abraham Chavez Theater and upgrade the Convention Center. Duranguito should be restored and transformed into a tourist attraction.
By contrast, Silverstein, supports eminent domain for an entertainment purpose, displacement of the most vulnerable El Pasoans from their homes, mass demolition of irreplaceable historical assets, and spending hundreds of millions over budget on a project we simply cannot afford.
Only a person who is morally bankrupt and financially illiterate could support the City’s Arena project at this point.
