The El Paso Times published an opinion essay that is so moronic, so incredibly stupid, that we felt compelled to share the entire text below. Please be sure to read this on an empty stomach if you don’t want your meal to end up on your lap. It is amazing how far the country club elites will go in trying to convince us that a $412 million concrete slab will benefit the taxpayers. Now we’re told the trees on top will help clean the air and lower temperatures! Honestly, we couldn’t stop laughing. ðŸ¤£ðŸ¤£ðŸ¤£

FULL TEXT:

“As a realtor and proud El Pasoan, I believe the proposed Deck Plaza is exactly the type of project our city needs.

While some neighborhood leaders have raised concerns about expanding I-10 and the environmental impacts that may follow, the Deck Plaza directly addresses those issues. By creating new green space, improving air quality, reducing urban heat, and reconnecting neighborhoods long divided by the highway, this project transforms a challenge into an opportunity. Rather than worsening environmental conditions, the park will mitigate them. Trees and landscaping above I-10 will help clean the air, lower temperatures in one of the hottest parts of our city, and provide safe, walkable open space for families who currently lack access to green space.

Beyond its environmental benefits, the project is projected to bring more than 1,700 new housing units, increase property values by 5–10%, and create room for expanded commercial development. These are critical steps toward meeting the demand for affordable housing while reducing El Paso’s reliance on residential taxes.

In my work as a realtor, I see firsthand what people value in their quality of life: proximity to jobs, access to transit and nearby parks. The Deck Plaza will not only revitalize Downtown, but it will also strengthen connections between neighborhoods and elevate El Paso’s overall quality of life.”
