Ricardo Samaniego ran for County Judge against John Cook in 2018 on a platform of fiscal restraint. Instead he voted for record spending, including COs and tax notes, and increased his own salary to $152,700.

Michelle Butler, David Stout, and Ricardo Samaniego are cut from the same “progressive” cloth and vote accordingly.

Samaniego, Stout, and Coronado are now up for re-election but it is unclear whether they can be defeated since they are protected by a fortress of money.

Only Commissioner Iliana Holguin, who is a Democrat, has voted against reckless spending and salary increases. She is the lone voice of fiscal sanity on the County Commissioners Court.
