The El Paso Inc (aka Oligarchy Gazette) is not a newspaper by any stretch of the imagination. It is a business journal for the wealthy elite of Coronado and the Upper Valley with an anti-taxpayer agenda.
It is a “safe space” for the developers and their bankers and attorneys, where they can read fawning stories about Ricardo Samaniego, Renard Johnson, Joyce Wilson, Steve Ortega, and the Hunts, Fosters, and Margos that promote government spending, the Debt Plaza, the Arena, and anything else that would feed our local contractors.
You will also read about the awards and honors the oligarchs bestow upon one another at country club luncheons and black-tie dinners.
The opinion section is where they are free to crap on me and anyone else who opposes massive capital improvement projects and tax increases.
What you will never find in their pages is investigative reporting of the rampant financial malfeasance and corruption in our City, County, UMC, and school districts.
So be sure to pick up the latest copy and subscribe! If you’re fortunate, you might even find yourself the target Reyes Mata III or one of the many elitists who are working tirelessly to keep our property tax the highest among large Texas cities.
