The El Paso County Taxpayer Revolt proudly endorses Matt Sistrunk for El Paso County Precinct 2. He is a military veteran and strong fiscal conservative who will always stand with the taxpayers. Though a Republican, we are convinced he will ably represent all El Pasoans on the County Commissioners Court.
His opponent is Democrat Miguel Teran, who purports to be fiscally conservative. Our concern is that he accepted $10,000 from the Bowling Brothers and $5,000 from Stanley Jobe, according to his July 15 campaign finance report. On his 30-day report, submitted today, we see additional funds from Jobe plus substantial contributions from Woody Hunt, Ed Houghton, Douglas Schwartz, Lane Gaddy, and an attorney we do not trust. There is also a contribution from Oscar Ugarte, who is under fire for gross mismanagement of the Sheriff’s Office. In our experience, candidates who accept money from these contributors will vote for large capital improvement projects and the spending to support them, 100% of the time.
For us, this endorsement comes down to trust. We trust Sistrunk to keep his word and do exactly what he promises if elected.
