Yesterday we reported that EPISD is facing a revenue gap of $96.6M as of the end of the 3rd fiscal quarter.
Now YISD posted its agenda backup for tomorrow’s meeting of its Board of Trustees.
Under item VII.2 is a presentation of the budget figures for the end of the 3rd quarter (March 31, 2026) of the current fiscal year.
On page 4, we learn the school district is facing a revenue gap of $97,532,475.
Of that figure, $105.9 million of the shortfall is from state program revenues, and $2.9 million from federal program revenues, and $2.5 million from “other resources.
Unlike EPISD, which has a fund balance of $147.2 million is thus able to bear the brunt of the shock, YISD has a cushion of only $43.3 million, which means they are in very serious trouble,.
Something very bad is happening in our school districts.
The YISD Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, May 21 at 6:00pm in the Ysleta Room of the Central Office, 9600 Sims Drive.
