Yesterday we reported that the Public Service Board, consisting of the Mayor Johnson and five others, voted 5-1 to increase our water fees by 7.5% for the average homeowner.

We also reported that Johnson abstained from voting because, according to him, he is “new to the Public Service Board” and thinks “for the taxpayers [he] should stay out of this.”

KVIA shared a statement from Johnson’s office on their 10pm report last night: “It was his second day in office and he was concerned that a rushed decision could lead to negative consequences for the community.”

rushed decision about whether to impose a massive fee hike on a quarter-million families?

Didn’t Johnson promise that he would be ready to lead on Day 1?

Didn’t Johnson receive the PSB agenda and backup at the same time as the other board members?

Didn’t Johnson promise to lower our taxes?

Never mind…
