Riding a tidal wave of money from the developers and their allies and empowered by shamefully low voter turnout, five of the six Oligarchy candidates for City office have sailed to victory. The balance of power on City Council has shifted decisively in favor of massive public expenditures and higher taxation.

Only one of the City candidates we endorsed, Lily Limon, managed to defeat her opponent, meaning that only 3 of 8 members of City Council will stand with the taxpayers come January 7.

The media can take a lot of credit for this result, as most of our local political “journalists” made their preference for Renard and the other Hunt-funded candidates perfectly clear in their reports.

HIGHER TAXES ARE IMMINENT

We predict that the first campaign promise that Renard Johnson and Alejandra Chavez will break is their pledge to lower taxes. You can bet your home and everything in it that in August 2025 our City Council will vote for a budget that will sharply increase our property tax for FY 2026, as revenues will not keep pace with new debt servicing.

If you are pleased with the election outcome, please remember to thank the 391,718 registered voters who did not care enough about their community to go to the polls in the Runoff Election. Yup, 91.76% of registered voters failed to perform their most basic citizen duty and we shall all suffer the consequences.
